Ahoy, There!

I wanted to share with you a card I made using the latest digital release by Birdie Brown. This image can be purchased on Torico’s Etsy site. Nautical images are everywhere this Spring and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on these adorable images.

I added the wooden ship deck and the back of the boat by hand doodling them in. And just for fun I used an anchor for another new set called Nautical Icon to create a tattoo on the captains left arm.

Chicks Know How to Party!

Denami Designs Large chick

Last night I was playing around with my Large Chickie stamp from Denami Designs. I had purchased a birthday stamp that included a party hat from Michael’s for $1 on Saturday night.Unfortunately, it turned out that the hat was too big for the chick’s head. :(  But then I remembered that I had some tiny Christmas tree stamps that might work and they fit perfectly! (I did alter the clear Christmas tree stamp by cutting off the trunk of the tree)

After I finished the card I realized that I should have taken some photos of the step by step process to show any newbies the stamp masking process. If I have time tonight I will recreate this card and take photos along the way and then blog about it tomorrow.

The confetti is covered with Glossy Accents and then sprinkled with Fairy Dust glitter for a little sparkle. And I used Glossy Accents for their beaks as well.

I will be entering this card into the Simon Says Stamp: Anything Goes, challenge for a chance to win a $50 gift card to  their online store. Woo hoo!

Don’t Distress Over Your Birthday

Posted on

I created one more card for the CAS-ual Fridays Birthday Bash CFC99 Challenge. This one would be a little more appropriate to send to someone Michelle who is the owner and creative genius over at CAS-ual Friday Stamps.

Michelle it turning 45 and to celebrate she is spreading the love by giving participants a chance to win a $45 gift certificate to her stamp store. I would love to win this time! I already know which sets I would choose if I won…Woot Woot, Rad and WTF!

Anyway here is my card:

Clean and Simple Birthday Card

First I stamped my sentiment in Versamark ink and then clear embossed it. Then I sponged on two colors of Tim Holtz Distress ink, Worn Lipstick and Spiced Marlmalade. Finally I splattered the sentiment paper with water, let it dry and then die cut my shape.

The background of the card is done with a patterned stamp that I clear embossed as well. A little bit of Baker’s Twine and “Bam” it’s your birthday!

The Purrfect Birthday Card

I am so excited about the latest card that I made. It features the cat for the Storybook Friends digital stamp from Stampin’ Up. The reason I am so happy with this card is because the little ball of yarn I set out to create worked out just like I hoped it would!

I wanted something without a lot of visual clutter but, that had something special to draw one’s attention. In some ways too, I guess I really love cards that have a tactile element to them.  My favorite books to buy for babies are the kind that have the different rub and feel pages like fuzzy ducks and scratchy sand and such. So that is why I added the little ball of yarn.

After several failed attempts (the glue was causing the ink of the stamp to run) I realized that the trick was to glue the yarn to a blank paper circle and then adhere that over the stamped version of the yarn ball.

I can’t wait to send this card to my niece Brianna for her birthday this summer. She really is perfect!

Denami Designs, Flower Box Window

Posted on

I finally inked up the stamp that I won from Denami Designs product spotlight. The stamp is called Flower Box Window and it is so cute and versatile.

Denami Flower Box Window

Since I was creating this card for the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge: All That Glitters, I knew I wanted something clean and simple with a hint of sparkle.

First I stamped the window directly on the card.  Then to create the wood grain on the flower box, I first stamped it on a separate paper and then stamped over it with my wood grain stamp. After cutting out the flower box and the flowers, which were also stamped separately, I added them to the window. I stamped the flower box one more time and cut it out to create an awning for the window.

I added some Stickles, blue glitter gel to the flowers and then finished each one with a tiny pink gem. Just a hint of sparkle, I know but, I am not a very bling, bling kind of girl.

Thanks to Denami Desgins for the stamp that I won! Wish me luck with the CAS-ual Friday’s challenge.

Happy Stamping,

Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head

When I was a kid I loved that old song by Burt Bacharach….Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head. It was just such a catchy tune. And every time I color this image by Torico of Birdie Brown it makes me think of that song.

I have been having a lot of fun using the Honeycomb stamp from my most recent Paper Smooches stamp purchase. The stamp set is called Geo-Graphic and it includes a polka dot stamp, this honeycomb and a chevron stamp.

The main image is a digital stamp from Birdie Brown. The characters that Torico (Birdie Brown’s creator) draws are always so adorable. You should consider visiting her blog to see more of what she has to offer and you can join in her monthly challenges by using her latest free image.

Don’t Worry, Bee Happy

Paper Smooches Freebie

I used a Paper Smooches free-bee (sorry I couldn’t resist the urge to spell it that way) and also the honeycomb stamp from the Geo-Graphic Set by Paper Smooches to create my card.

The sentiment stamp is a dollar bin stamp, from Michaels. And I doodled in the stitches and highlights with a white gel pen.

This little bee is so cute; he really does make me happy!
